Make a 2 x 3 chunky chain bracelet by linking jump rings

To make this chunky chain bracelet you'll need 5 packages of the Large Plated Pewter Jump Rings. None of these jump rings are offered by the manufacturer as closed jump rings so each jump ring will need to be opened and closed.  Since we're doing a 2 x 3 (jump rings) link chain, you'll first want to open a jump rings and slide 3 closed jump rings onto that jump ring and then close it.  Be sure all of the (including the first three) jump rings are closed and the seam /cut meets.  You'll need to do this throughout the project but your chain will look clean and professional.  Next, take another open jump ring and slide this through (perpendicularly) the same three jump rings and close it.  When you've finished this, you should see the pattern that you will use throughout this jewelry making project to make the chain.  You'll be alternating a 2 jump ring link to a 3 jump ring link and back to a two jump ring link, and so on.  For the ends of the chain, you'll need to attach a toggle clasp using the same jump rings, (1) on each side of the chain.  If you are using the Antique Rhodium Jump Rings, as we have, the Sterling Silver Toggle Clasp will match well.  Don't use the jump ring that comes with the clasp and toggle set - to allow the jewelry piece to have a good flow, you want to be sure to use the same jump rings that you've used throughout the project.

See the photo below for instructions on how to work with jump rings (opening and closing).

When working with jump rings, you'll need 2 sets of pliers. Either needle nose, chain nose, flat nose or bent chain nose pliers will work well.  Hold the jump ring with one pair of pliers in one hand and another pair of pliers in the other hand so that you are looking down at the cut on the jump ring.  The nose of the pliers should be on each side of the cut.  Keep one hand/pair of pliers stationary (if you're right handed, keep the left stationary), and move the other pliers (your wrist should do the movement) toward your body.  Now, you've opened the jump ring, move the same pliers back away from your body and the jump ring will close.  NEVER OPEN OR CLOSE A JUMP RING BY PULLING IT APART IN TWO DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS PARALLEL TO YOUR BODY.

To create the design above you will need the following items

Plated Pewter Jump Rings - 7.5mm   (5 packages) (approx. 15 jump rings per inch or 94 (5 packages) for a 7 3/4" bracelet w/toggle clasp included in the length - choose a finish (we choose Antique Rhodium)) and match your clasp to that finish.  Since we do not yet have many of the Antique Rhodium Clasp, we've used the Sterling Silver Clasp and Toggle below, which is an excellent match.
